WHAT ARE ENERGY COMMUNITIES?
With the Renewable Energy Sources Expansion Act (EAG) passed in 2021, it is possible to set up energy communities in Austria. In this way, energy can be produced, stored, sold and consumed across property boundaries.
Austria is one of the first countries in the EU to allow its citizens to band together to share sustainable electricity. It's your turn: Become a pioneer too, actively shape the energy transition and become part of an energy community!

As a member of an energy community, you save up to 57% on grid fees. In addition, the electricity price is set by the members of the energy community and not prescribed by large corporations.
Co2 neutral
Energy produced by energy communities is
exclusively renewable and therefore CO2-free. You are making a valuable contribution to climate and environmental protection!
Local added value
Independence from international markets means at the same time full added value in your own region. This leads to job security and increased revenue for infrastructure as the money stays in your region.
Renewable energy producers often produce excess electricity. This surplus can be shared within the energy community.
